La Nona - Argentinian Bakery

The "La Nona" branding project honors the cherished traditions of Argentine baking, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for a bakery-restaurant and shop that has stood the test of time since 1968. This concept focuses on the comfort of family, nostalgia, and the timeless appeal of homemade pastries, like churros, medialunas, and empanadas, which are staples of Argentine cuisine. "La Nona" (grandmother) embodies the love and care passed down through generations, representing the heart and soul of Argentine kitchens. The branding combines a vintage style with a handcrafted approach, utilizing earthy tones and classic fonts to evoke a welcoming, timeless environment. The goal was to build a comprehensive identity for a bakery that feels like stepping into a home filled with history and warmth. I produced five key deliverables, such as packaging, stickers, business cards, signage, and custom labels, all thoughtfully designed to capture the essence of La Nona—genuine, nostalgic, and full of family legacy.

The "La Nona" concept also draws inspiration from the Italian roots that run deep in Argentina’s culture, particularly from Florence, where intricate motifs like spiral flowers and ornate flourishes are central to the region’s artistic history. These Florentine elements, often seen in Italian architecture and design, represent a blend of beauty and tradition—values that have carried over into Argentine family kitchens and bakeries. The name "La Nona" honors the Italian grandmother figure, who passed down treasured recipes, often inspired by Italian baking techniques. Since 1968, bakeries in Argentina have been a place to share these time-honored recipes with loved ones. The brand’s vintage, artisanal aesthetic is influenced by these Florentine motifs, subtly woven into the design to connect Italy’s rich cultural history with Argentina’s vibrant culinary traditions, evoking a sense of home and warmth.
