What did I do exactly?
As one of the Visual/UX people I helped my team anywhere where visuals/graphics of any kind were needed. I even helped some fellow classmates who were unfamiliar with the process of user research and also with utilizing Figma. I bounced around some teams and stepped in wherever I thought needed more attention, pushing for as much cross-collaboration as possible (since we were 16 students from different disciplines). As one of the 3 UX/Interaction designers, I designed and prototyped part of our website, delivering an engaging user experience while showcasing our findings. The final concepts were presented to the Mayo Clinic team.
Takeaways:
Working with such a large and dynamic team, we learned the importance of a proactive workflow. It was extremely important to oversee potential obstacles in our path and address them as quickly as possible. I contributed to this effort by documenting our decisions throughout the process and making sure they aligned with our initial design principles. We also learned to communicate with visuals whenever you can. The way each of our brains works/interprets information is different, and we should always implement tangible sketches/visuals of any idea or concept to communicate it as clearly as possible.
